The Peoria Primary Prevention Coalition is a group of concerned community leaders and members working to reduce youth alcohol, marijuana, and prescription drug use/abuse in the city of Peoria.
Where to Begin
Take a deep breath, no, seriously.
Life is a lot, especially in our modern day. Get back to the basics, shut off the noise. These things will help you and your kids!
- Go for a walk outside
- Take deep breaths through your nose and out your mouth slowly/deliberately (when stressed, we breathe shallowly)
- Stay hydrated
- Get some sun on your skin
- Take breaks from screens, get connected to the present moment in real time and space - do this intentionally every day!
- Prioritize sleep it is vital for your well-being.
- Eat real food, don't stress about specifics if you don't know much, start with cutting out junk and adding food found in nature!
- Take breaks, do things a little at a time – don't procrastinate, make a plan!
- Exercise – add intentional movement into your day, especially if you work at a desk, etc.
